Western Art's Nelson Cup win at Nelson harness races

There must be something in the water at Woodend Beach.

Greg and Nina Hope have dominated on the second day of the Nelson Harness Racing Club's 125th Jubilee meeting, to pick up four winners - the highlight being Western Art's victory in the Nelson Pine Industries Nelson Cup.

The husband and wife partnership also picked up two winners on Friday.

Their results are a mirror image of fellow Woodend Beach trainer Robert Dunn who picked up two wins on Sunday to go with the four he collected on Friday.

They and Mark Jones have given the tiny Canterbury beach settlement 13 wins from the 21 races over the two days.

Leading reinsman Ricky May drove all six of the Hope's winners but he puts Western Art's cup win at $6.90 firmly down to the Hopes.

"It's a heck of a training feat really," May said.

Friday's fifth in the cup prelude was Western Art's first start since September 11.
